Why We Switched from Elementor to Breakdance

Elementor used to be our go-to WordPress builder. It gave us a way to quickly launch pages, test layouts and take control of design without touching code. But after a while, things started to go wrong.

CSS would suddenly stop loading on random pages. Styling changes wouldn’t apply unless we refreshed the entire editor. Images would completely disappear. The controls would take a while to load. We spent more time troubleshooting Elementor than actually building with it.

That’s where we started looking for an alternative, and after seeing what was available, we made the switch to Breakdance. And it’s been a huge improvement.

Why Breakdance made sense for our workflow

We weren’t just looking for a newer builder. We needed something more stable, more efficient and less bloated. Breakdance delivered on all three.

The first thing we noticed was how responsive the editor felt. It loaded faster, responded better, and didn’t fight back when we tried to make changes. We also appreciated how much functionality comes built in. With Elementor, you often need to add multiple plugins just to unlock features like form builders and popups. This means fewer plugins to manage, fewer updates to keep track of, and less risk of compatibility issues.

Breakdance gives us more control over design

One of the biggest advantages of Breakdance is how much more control it offers on the design side. We’ve found it easier to adjust layouts, spacing and styling without relying on custom CSS or workarounds. The interface is intuitive, and the tools feel like they’ve built with developers and designers in mind.

Everything from global styles to responsive settings is clearer and easier to manage. It’s helped us streamline our workflow and reduce the amount of time we spend on our website, so we can spend more time on our clients video production.

Performance has improved across the board

Another major reason we moved away from Elementor was performance. The builder had become too heavy. Even small pages would take longer to load, and we noticed a growing number of issues related to frontend bloat.

Since switching to Breakdance, we’ve seen noticeable improvements in site speed. Pages are lighter, assets are better optimised, and we don’t have to constantly strip things back just to improve load times. For us, that translates directly into a better user experience and stronger SEO performance.

It’s a better value in the long term

At first glance, Breakdance may seem slightly more expensive than Elementor’s base plan. But when you add up the cost of all the third-party add-ons you typically need with Elementor, Breakdance actually works out more cost-effective.

You get more tools out of the box, which means fewer ongoing plugin subscriptions and less time spent managing them. Over time, that adds up.

Elementor does have a larger library of pre-built templates and layouts. It’s been around longer, and that advantage shows. But Breakdance is catching up quickly. Its design library is expanding and, because the editor is so flexible, we often find it easier to create our own layouts anyway.
Switching from Elementor to Breakdance was a practical decision based on real issues we were facing. Our website plays a key role in how we showcase our work, communicate our message and support our clients. It needs to be fast, consistent and easy to update, just like the videos we produce every day.

We hold our own content to the same standard as the work we deliver for others. Clean design, smooth performance and a clear message are essential. Breakdance has helped us meet that standard more effectively.
